Treating Crohns Disease: A New Approach
Crohns Disease is a chronic inflammatory process affecting the digestive tract. While it can affect one or more of the following: colon, small bowel (duodenum, jejunum, or ileum), anus, stomach, or esophagus, it usually is seen in the last part of the small intestine (terminal ileum and cecum). The symptoms are as follows: - Chronic diarrhea
- Abdominal pain
- Fever
- Loss of appetite
- Weight loss
- Ulcerations of the mouth
- Right lower quadrant mass or fullness in abdomen that mimics appendicitis
- Pus, mucus, and blood may be present in the stool if the rectum is involved. In severe cases, abdominal fistulas and abscesses may develop causing fever, painful abdominal masses, generalized malnutrition & muscle wasting.
- Crohn’s Disease is commonly associated with other complications involving the eyes, mouth, skin, and joints (such as arthritis).
There is no known cause, so Western doctors can only prescribe drugs to attempt to treat the symptoms, but not the underlying cause. Often, the side effects and potential addiction resulting from long-term use will quickly wreck havoc on the entire body, resulting in many more problems than the disease they are attempting to treat.
Luckily, there are alternative treatments available at Between Heaven and Earth Health Center to correct the nutritional deficiencies, control inflammation, and relieve symptoms like abdominal pain, diarrhea, and rectal bleeding that make living with this disease so unbearable. Nutritional complications are common in Crohn’s Disease. Deficiency of proteins, calories, and vitamins are well documented. These deficiencies may be caused by inadequate dietary intake, intestinal loss of protein, or poor absorption. Depending on the stage of the disease, your doctor at Between Heaven and Earth Health Center may begin treatments with a nine-day nutritional cleanse to release toxins trapped in the gastrointestinal tract. The patient may also be advised to avoid certain foods, such as raw fruits and vegetables, certain chemicals, milk and other dairy products as they may be exacerbating the problems. Herbs or organic supplements may be prescribed to assist with digestive functioning. Your doctor will work closely with you to establish a personalized diet and treatment plan based on your specific needs and lifestyle. Through our revolutionary treatment techniques, we can effectively redirect the energies of the body to heal itself. Acupuncture, EFT, BodyTalk, and Acutonics are just a few of the many powerful techniques we utilize to relieve pain and assist the body in the healing process.
