Fibromyalgia Successfully Treated
Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition causing pain, stiffness, tenderness of the muscles and joints, general fatigue and sleep disturbances. Most people suffering from this disease feel tired upon awakening, fatigued and are depressed and anxious. Digestion problems are also an issue. The most common areas of pain are the neck, back, shoulders, pelvic area and hands. Patients experience a range of symptoms of varying intensities that come and go. They can include problems with memory and foggy thinking. No one knows the cause. Anyone can get it, but it is most common in middle-aged women. People with rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases are particularly likely to develop this disease. There is no conventional cure. Alternative treatments are much more successful in treating this debilitating condition. Because there is no inflammation in painful muscles, tissue and adjacent areas, despite the excruciating pain, there is no body damage that accompanies the condition. Unlike other autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis or lupis, the body is not damaged. Therefore, when the condition is reversed, you will be out of pain and able to do all the things you were able to do before.
Here is an excerpt from a study done by the Mayo Clinic titled: Acupuncture Relieves Symptoms of Fibromyalgia
Thursday, August 25, 2005Patients treated with six sessions of acupuncture experienced significant symptomatic improvement compared to a group given simulated acupuncture sessions according to a new Mayo Clinic study. The findings will be presented at the 11th World Congress of the International Association for the Study of Pain in Sydney, Australia. "This study shows there is something real about acupuncture and its effects on fibromyalgia," says David Martin, M.D., Ph.D., Mayo Clinic anesthesiologist and the study's lead investigator. "Our study was performed on patients with moderate to severe pain. It's my speculation that if acupuncture works for these patients where previous treatments had not provided satisfactory relief — it would likely work for many of the millions of affected patients." Acupuncture could fill a gap in available therapies for the disease as something additive to what medications already can provide, says Dr. Martin. "There's not a cure available, so patients are often left somewhat frustrated by continuing pain and fatigue," he says. "Acupuncture is one of the few things shown to be effective for these symptoms. It may be particularly attractive to patients who are unable to take medications because of intolerable side effects or choose the no medicine approach." | We have successful treated fibromyalgia using acupuncture. We implement an approach that incorporates acupuncturE and allergy treatments. We find eliminating allergies plays a major role in getting patients back on their feet. The body's immune system gets confused and seems to attack the body rather than heal it. When the allergies are eliminated, the body can go back to a healthy balance. Nutrition is also a major part in restoring health in conditions like this. |
